Jeanette: Mid-week update--last week of FEBRUARY!

Greetings!

This week I have done well.  The weight continues to come off, albeit slowly.  Monday I did the hill (dubbed the "hill from hell" by Sandy Rayborn), but it wasn't enough.  Isn't that cool?  The first time I did it I thought I might die.  Now, I felt like I needed to do more.  So I had her drop me off on Hill Road and I ran to the school.  It was good!

Tuesday I was crazy pants and forgot my gym shoes!!!  I was walking in the gym with my bag, and it felt suspiciously light.  It was already late because of PLC, so  I came home and did yardwork (blessed high 50 temps!)  My tulips are coming up :)

Today (Wed) I had a meeting downtown and it was our last day of good weather.  We got done early, so I went to the Greenbelt and ran FOUR MILES STRAIGHT!  Four miles without stopping!  For some people that's not much.  And soon, I will be laughing at how little that is.  But for me, right now, that's a lot.  I was very proud!  And then I took Ibuprofen.

Food has included:  lots of green smoothies and toast for breakfast, and black beans and eggs.  Lunches/dinners have been salads, egg salad in a pita, salad from Elk's Lodge, doc's chili and Shannon beans with applesauce.  Snacks are apples and a few cashews.

Today after my run I saw 185.6.  My goal is 184 by Sunday.

Just keep swimming!!!!!!!!  In three weeks I will get to go to Arizona for Spring Break!  YAY!!

Jeanette: End of Week Six

Well hello there.  I'm sure you've been waiting anxiously to see how I fared this week on the scale after my big 20 pound victory over the Utah weekend....

I did great!  I had a volleyball game on Thursday (we won--I think we're going to be competitive and do well this season!)  Then Friday I worked hard at the gym.  I ran 10 laps, lifted weights and did lunges, ran 10 more laps, did my weight routine again, and ran 5 more laps then finished with my weights.  I am trying to combine strength training and cardio both.

Saturday my knee surgery knee was hurting from all the fun this week, so I took a break.  I ate really healthy though--egg white/veggie omelet for breakfast, salad with chicken for lunch, and a green smoothie with toast for dinner.

As of this morning, I have lost 22 pounds!  Here is proof and two photos of my progress.

JUST KEEP SWIMMING!!!  Next week's goal:  184!

Jeanette: Mid-week update, 2.20.14

I did it!  I weighed in at 188.8 (I also saw 188.6) after my trip to Utah.  This is a tremendous personal victory.  It marks exactly 20 pounds; yay!  But it also was a testament to how I fought against all the yummy temptations on my trip.  My family really worked hard to help me, and I am very grateful.  Yay!

After that victory, I've done okay.  Tuesday I ate a lunch provided at our AVID meeting consisting of salad, chips, and 1/2 a chicken and bean burrito.   That might not have been the best.  Then I ran 3.4 miles (almost without stopping, still working on that), so that was good.

Then Wednesday, I was so tired and hungry!  I ate spaghetti squash and salad for lunch, but I had a long meeting after school and Young Women's that night.  So, I didn't go to the gym.  Then....I had refried bean/taco mix with green beans for dinner AND THEN I ate a bag of popcorn.  Oy.

Ok, so I knew I overate.  Also, I stayed up late (past 11) because I had another meeting AND I didn't work out (triple bad threat).  But I was really sad to see that I was back up to 192 last night and 190.0 in the morning.  I was hoping not to ever see the 190's again.

I guess I just have to remember this is a journey and to keep working hard.  Today I ate a breakfast burrito and apple, spaghetti squash with salad and green beans, and lettuce wraps.  I went to my volleyball game (we won!)  Tomorrow I will eat well and work out at the gym.

Just keep swimming!!

Jeanette: President's Day Weekend Utah Update

Well hello.  I'm back from my visit to Utah.  It was fraught, I repeat, FRAUGHT with temptations that aren't around when I'm in my little house controlling every little thing that comes in the door.  It started on the drive out...McDonalds, chips--cheesy Pringles and Cheetos (my favorite), chocolate chip cookies (my favorite!), gummy bears, white bread....and included homemade bread, chips and salsa, sugar cookies, M & M's, brownies, pudding, meatloaf and mashed potatoes, sourdough sandwiches, oh my gosh.

Well, that's mostly everything I didn't eat.  Things I did right included packing my own food:  low-fat wheat thins and cooked chicken pieces, apples, skim milk cheese sticks, carrots, broccoli and cauliflower, and whole almonds.

I ran twice, both of which included uphill portions.  I ate eggs and toast at breakfast and taco salad for lunch (I did have some chips, but tried to limit it).  I ate some of the meatloaf and potatoes, but tried to fill up mostly with salad and green beans.  I ate some of Val's homemade bread, but only a piece.  I had 1/4 of the yummy sourdough sandwich and gave the rest away.  I ate 10 Cheetos and 3 Pringles in the car today, but I said no to all sweets and packed my own salad with chicken for lunch/dinner.  I did not eat out once.

Here's to seeing a good number in the 180's tomorrow!!!  I hope, I hope, I hope.  I really tried hard this weekend.  I'm tired and hungry and grumpy, and my kitty is in a biting mood.  Rawr.

This is me after my run in Santaquin President's Day morning.  I ran up a hill and it was really beautiful, but I thought I might die.  Can you tell?

And this is my motto.  I cannot gain this weight back again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
